AL 403: ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP & CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

OVERVIEW

The module discusses the role of higher education in community engagement with a focus on regional development. It discusses concepts and engagement practices between institutions and their regional community. Participants will be familiarised with tools for analysing engagement impact. They will consider potential issues and challenges related to community engagement and regional development and discuss ways on how to overcome those challenges.

Demonstrate understanding of their roles as leaders in promoting community engagement and regional development;

Identify forms of engagement that they can establish with the regional community;

Apply appropriate tools of analysis to ascertain the impact of engagement on community and regional development; and
